Most fathers call us when the "horse" is already out of the barn door and running down the road. If you run fast, you may be able to catch the horse, as it were. Every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month at 7:30pm, Hotel Lenox, 140 North St., Buffalo, NY, you will hear the refrain, "Get started and get smart." The only way that you will ever come out ahead and be able to be of any help to your children in the months and years ahead is if you spend the time now to learn about the rules and regulations regarding the law. Ask yourself the simple question, "What do I want?" and follow it up with the next question, "How will I get it?" Many of our members have spent long hours reading the law. You can do this, too. There are two law libraries in the Buffalo, NY area which are free and open to the public. The first one is located on the 4th floor of the (old) Erie County Hall next to the Family Court. It is called the Supreme Court Library at Buffalo and is open during general business hours. The phone number is (716) 852-0712 and the fax number is (716) 852-3454. The other law library is located at the SUNY - Buffalo Law School, Amherst Campus. The phone number there is (716) 645-2048. Librarians are very knowledgeable and can be very helpful if you use the right approach. If you are exploring this page for the first time, chances are you are into your case for the long-term. I recommend that you spend the next hour reading through the Utopia Foundation site or bookmark it for future reference. I strongly urge you to complete the "Lawyer Evaluation Form" if you are already involved in proceedings and return it to us ASAP. Other fathers who are just starting down this same road will find your comments and evaluation of Buffalo, NY area lawyers most helpful, especially as they consider choosing their own. |
